I have a lot of aunties that are nurses. My auntie actually just retired from working in Highland after 20-plus years. And my mom gets her primary care here. Now I’m an intern at Highland.
I babysit a lot, so I love kids in general, and I love science and medicine, and I want to travel, so I want to be a pediatric travel nurse. I want to give the kids in my community somebody to look to as an example when they get older.
I receive a lot of support from HealthPATH. Being a part of the team is amazing. Joseph and Joilah are the program coordinators, and they keep us guided and situated, and help me with my homework. It’s really cool seeing people of my skin color having these big roles as managers and coordinators.
Highland means everything to this community. They take care of a lot of homeless people. I go out and feed the homeless, so now I know I could bring them to Highland if they need care.
