Alameda Health System (AHS) On-Ramp College Internship

The On-Ramp to Health Careers is a six-month program to prepare under-represented community college students for a paid summer internship at Alameda Health System. The program will cover professional skills such as resume writing, interviewing, public speaking, elevator pitches, and other skills which will prepare participants to be competitive applicants for the summer internship experience.

Participants will also have the opportunity to learn about health careers at AHS through placement in hospital departments where they will be mentored by health system leaders.


  • Must be currently enrolled at Merritt College or Chabot College

  • Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated prior to the start of the program

Application Requirements:

  • Short Answer Questions (250 word minimum each question):

    • Why are you interested in working in a public health care system such as Alameda Health System?

Internship Details:

  • Compensation: $1,000 stipend upon completion of the internship

  • Professional Development Workshops: October 15th – December 17th | Fridays 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM (remote via zoom)

  • Department Placements: January 17th – April 15th | Once a week for 4 hours (In-person, schedule TBD)
